Z scale custom-built 2-track layout w/ generous curves and mountain w/ waterfall

This is a custom-built, Z scale layout with two separate tracks: a small loop on the bottom level and a much longer mainline mountain climb. Due to all the looping of the track, at one point the tracks get stacked THREE levels high. In addition, there is a 12” high mountain with a lake and waterfall that the mainline goes through twice each time it completes a circuit.

The layout has a total of 215” of track.  Size: 37” Long, 27” Wide, 12” High.

The mainline features a longer UPHILL climb where the min. radius is 195 mm (many Z-scale layouts are 145 mm or less) at a 3% incline. The DOWNHILL track is steeper (4.5%) and has a tighter radius (170 mm). An advantage to having the shallower, longer uphill climb is that the layout no longer looks like a standard Figure 8. Not only does this make for a more interesting track plan, each lap takes much longer than were it just a standard Figure 8. The small, inner loop is flat (no incline). Its curves are all 95 mm.

Relatively few Z-scale layouts sold on eBay have a 170 mm minimum radius. But on this layout, for the mainline, only the downhill is that tight (uphill is a more generous 195 mm). Why mention it? This track plan allows for both a greater range of locomotives that can run on it and for the ability to run longer trains. This is NOT a toy train layout!

The mountain that the mainline runs through features a pop-off top top should you ever need access to all the track.

The price listed includes the track and scenery (including lake and waterfall). Not included are any buildings, power supplies, locomotives, or train cars.

Size: 37” Long, 27” Wide, 12” High

All track is Rokuhan.
