Z-Scale, 3 -track, Fig 8 layout: 60" x 30" that runs long American style trains
This 60” x 30” triple-track Figure 8 layout was built in 2022. It is designed to run three trains at a time: one on the tiny inner loop (95 mm. radius) and two on the two outside, mainline tracks. The mainlines feature a 3% maximum uphill incline and have a 220 mm. minimum radius on all uphill or level curves (note that the downhill spiral, as shown on the pictures, has a 4% drop and a 195 mm. min. radius). Because of the gentle uphill curves and incline, each mainline will let you run long trains. The pictures and video you see on this listing show doubled-up AZL/Marklin full-sized American-style locomotives -- one with 12 American-style freight cars and the other with 8 American-style passenger cars (and we could run longer trains on each track than that if we wished).
In other words, THIS IS A REAL LAYOUT, one where on the mainlines you won't be required to use tiny European locomotives or cars. We call it the BIG FIGURE 8 layout, and, if you like to see real trains in action, this could be the perfect layout for you. We are pretty sure of this: NO smaller layout would be able to handle what this layout can.
Several notes: The mountain on the right side of the layout is removable (as some pictures show), to allow for city or industrial modeling. Each mainline has a siding with a RERAILER RAMP (one picture shows this). You will be amazed at how much easier that makes it to successfully get equipment onto the track.
All track is Rokuhan. The layout requires three power supplies (one picture shows this)—and, if you want to buy our used ones, we can, for $350.00, sell them, and that would include the two remotely-operated turn-out switches you will need. Undoubtedly you noticed the little VW Microbus on the inner loop (in Europe it is used as a service vehicle)—if you want to buy one, it is the Marklin 88026 Motorized klv VW T1 Bus.
The price listed does NOT include any rolling stock or power supplies for the track or turn-outs (but, as noted above, you can get those from us). What the price does include is the track, two remotely-operated turnouts, and all the scenery (including the removable mountain).
Shipping a 64” x 36” x 14", 45 lb. box is not cheap. But PICK UP is free --and how about this: we will hand deliver it to you for a $100.00 fee if you are within 100 miles of our zip (60618) or for $200.00 if within 200 miles. Beyond that would mean you pay for shipping -- we recommend flat freight. If you choose this option, we will pay for packing, you pay the actual shipping cost (and we put a cap of $500.00 as the most you will pay if it goes domestically flat freight). If you want us to do the delivery, message us with that info BEFORE you place an order. For one thing we will need to clarify everything so there will be no confusion later. Then, when you place the order, you will need to know what shipping option to pick and how to factor into the price you pay the $100.00 or $200.00 delivery fee you owe us. If this is confusing, just message us and we will get it all figured out.
