This is a pretty wonderful stand-alone layout in that it features a mountain-climbing figure 8 where at one point the tracks are stacked 3 layers high--and on top of all that rests the mountain with a waterfall and a small area for modeling.

One important note: all the video and pictures you see here are of the ORIGINAL version we had built. We now have improved the design but only build it for custom orders. -- it now comes in a longer 47" footprint that allows us to take the incline down to 3.5% , and, with 195 mm curves, it means you can run longer equipment and trains  on it.

But now let's go back to the magic of the layout: we encourage you to watch the video one more time just to study how much action can fit in so small a footprint. This is one of those layouts that, when you step back a few feet, it feels like you are seeing a real train a mile off (and isn't this exactly how in the old day movie studios shot railroad footage?).

The mainline features a longer UPHILL climb where the min. radius is 195 mm and just a 3.5% incline. The DOWNHILL track is steeper (4.5%) but still keeps the 195 mm min. One advantage to the shallower uphill climb is that the layout no longer looks like a standard Figure 8 and each lap takes much longer to complete than a standard compact Figure 8. Note: The small, inner loop is flat (no incline), with curves that are 120 mm. Our favorite locomotive for it is either the Rokuhan DT12-10. Marklin also sells locomotives that can handle this.

The mountain with waterfall that the mainline runs through is removable should you ever need access to all the track. The track plan is  all by itself 23" wide -- this mountain and waterfall would add about 6" to the width and make the total height about 8".

The price listed on the website is 10% LESS THAN THAT SHOWN ON EBAY and includes the track and scenery (including lake and waterfall), but NOT any buildings, power supplies, locomotives, or train cars.

Size: 47” long, 23” wide plus mountain appendage (20" long , 6" wide, 8” High). All track is Rokuhan.
