The layout you are looking at, the N3b, is the STRETCHED VERSION of the N3 layout -- and what that means is that this version is a full 3' longer than the basic N3a. The  video we show here is of a roughed-in layout -- just finished enough to show the impact of the 3' extra feet of length. And all the still pictures are of the smaller N3a -- but, of course, they apply (you just have to imagine what they would look like on a 50% longer layout).
 
     If you are are on a budget or lack space, you may prefer the shorter layout, but just know that there is a huge difference in the length of the trains you can run. We like the SHORT version held to a max of 6 or at most 8 cars--but think the larger one can run trains as long as 16 cars.
 
This layout works well either in DC or DCC.

     The layout is 10' long by 27" wide with curves that are 315 mm and 282 mm and which has four sidings. Note that the TRACK PLAN shown in the pictures for this list shows an IMPROVED VERSION of the original, so means that the layout you receive will not look exactly like the one on the video or pictures (but note that the TRACK PLAN does show the new version).      In closing, a personal note from BILL BEIN of LoganSquareZandN: "I HATE turnouts from both Kato (N) and Rokuhan (Z), and I do not think you can back trains through Kato N or Rokuhan Z onto sidings with no derailments. I use my sidings for decoration only."
