This layout can run three trains at a time (two on Layout N1: Single Oval w Holding Track and one on Layout N2: Gentle Figure 8 -- with a recommended max length of 8 cars each ). The N1 Oval works best in DCC, the N2 Figure 8 works well in DC or DCC. It gets shipped in 4 sections (with details on this shown below).
As for the N1: Single Track Oval, It is the HOLDING TRACK that makes it easy to have two trains share the same track (when you want to run just one train and park the other, you can use the holding track).
This layout starts with a simple oval that is 83" x 34" in size - but which is big enough to run two trains at a time since it has a long holding track. Then it adds the N3: Double Track Oval w/ Yard layout to it -- and now you can run four trains at a time (2 on the Outer Single Oval and 2 on the Inner Double Oval). AND WHEN YOU BUY THEM AS A SET, YOU SAVE $200.00.

Now let's talk SIZE as it relates to shipping. This N5: Combo is one of our SHIPPABLE LARGE LAYOUTS. By that we mean that we can take a layout as big as this one (83" x 34") and send it out WITH FREE SHIPPING as we send it out in stacked sections. In the case of this layout we send it in FOUR sections (two for the outer oval, and 2 for the inner one). The Gentle Figure 8 has a 2.5% incline, a 3.5% decline, and 282 mm curves -- easily alllowing you to run an 8-car train on it. To summarize, the combined layout is 83" long by 34" wide . We provide all the internal wiring the layouts need (track feeds and turnout controls). We do not provide any power controllers (either for track or turnouts) nor do we furnish any locomotives, cars, or buildings. All track is Kato Unitrack.
We highly recommend DCC for the N1: Single Track Oval layout, but DC is possible with some "jerry-rigging." -- and the N2: Gentle Figure 8 and N3: Double Loop w Yard work perfectly in either DC or DCC. Since the layout comes in several sections, we will provide scenery material that you can glue down to cover the cracks (watch the video and examine the pictures and you will see how well the cracks can be hidden).
