This layout puts the three layouts on a CORNER: it super stretches our N1: Single Track Oval w Holding Track to 8' in length on the top and 9' in length down the side so that not only can it hold two smaller layouts (the N2: Figure 8 and also the N3: Double Oval), it now has a much longer length to the outer oval with 381 mm curves -- letting you run long, high speed trains.
Because of it combines three layouts, this layout can run 5 trains at a time:
- Two on the Stretched N1: Single Oval w Holding Trk (where, because of its extra length, it can support two American-style passenger car trains with each having up to12 passenger cars or 24 freight cars and a consist (A-B or A-B-A).
- Two on the N3: Double Track Oval w/ Yard (with a recommended max of 8 cars on each ).
- One on the N2 Figure 8 (8 car recommended max)(
The N1 Oval and the N3: Double Oval were both designed for DCC, the but the N2: Gentle Figure 8 works well in DC or DCC. It gets shipped in 6 sections - 4 for the outer main oval/double-track inner oval, and more 2 for the Figure 8.
As for the N1: Single Track Oval, It is the HOLDING TRACK that makes it easy to have two trains share the same track (when you want to run just one train and park the other, you can use the holding track).
Now let's talk SIZE as it relates to shipping. This N7 Combo is one of our SHIPPABLE LARGE LAYOUTS. By that we mean that we can take a layout as big as this one (8' x 9' x 34") and send it out WITH FREE SHIPPING as we send it out in stacked sections. In the case of this layout we send it in six sections. Note that the two turnouts for the holding track are automated but the turnouts in the Yard are manual.
To summarize, the Single-Track Oval with Holding Track which was 78" by 34" when we sold it as a small stand-alone layout is now a corner layout -- 8' on one 9' on the other, has 381 mm curves, and can run two trains, each with up to 16 cars.
